REMEMBERING
NORFOLK

ere
it is in all its glory - Downtown Norfolk in 1959.
You can almost smell the Near Beer, can't you? Up
and down East Main Street were the quaint little clubs
serving non-alcoholic beverages, because alcohol could
not be purchased by-the-drink in those days, remember?
The Victoria Hotel is off in the distance and there's
a shooting gallery across the street, barely visible
behind the light pole. Must have been a cold day when
this was taken - overcoats and winter garb are clearly
visible.
And look at the vintage
autos.
