The wrench

ll of the Repair Divisions of the USS Tidewater performed major work on destroyers. This is just one example where, in 1962, the USS Stickle underwent a screw change while in our Med home port of Naples, Italy.

This series of photos was sent to us by AD31 Association Life Member Terry Braga, who was on the diving team that removed the old screw and put on the new one. The replacement screw weighed over 4 tons. And take a look at the wrench they used to remove the old screw from the shaft. It's definitely longer than your arm.
