WELCOME TO THE FANTAIL

Bill Cook, ET2 - USS Tidewater 10/62 - 9/65his was one of my favorite spots on the Tidewater. While we were in Portsmouth's Dry Dock late 1962 and early 1963, the ship's fantail was outfitted with a new DASH (Distant Airborne Sonar Helicopter) pad and hangar. It was the latest in electronic surveillance technology - but more than that, it was a place to hang out and drink coffee and tell stories. So I guess others thought of it as a favorite spot of theirs also.

The view of the Naples from that vantage point is still vivid in my memory. So, I hope you'll allow me to indulge myself in naming our Guest Book after that favorite place of so many sailors aboard the Tidewater during the Sixties - and I hope that you'll take the time to tell us a yarn or two of your own - just click here to sign our Guest Book.
