Early evenings were always
spectacular on the Atlantic. Here we see a
destroyer in the distance, accompanying us as
part of a 12-ship flotilla back to the US from
the 1962/63 Med Cruise. The Tidewater was just 1
year out of Portsmouth Shipyard refurbishing,
having just acquired her new Distant Airborne
Sonar Helicopter (DASH) hanger on the Fantail.
This view is from the bow of the Tidewater
looking west.
