Cooks baked them a cake (actually several)
Fred
Lewis, OM2, served aboard the Tidewater in the mid Fifties and
sent us a few of his photos from the family album. Here's what
he says about the occasion above:
I
served in the Optical Shop along with my twin brother, Glenn.
We served from March of 1953 until January of 1957.
Glenn and I were the pointers for mounts 43
and 44. We sighted and fired the twin 44s. While we were
operating out of GITMO one time we both hit the sleeve, so the
Captain had the cooks bake us cakes.
I, along with my ship mates, really appreciate
what you are doing to keep these memories alive. I love the
website and visit it often.
