ENSIGN
LOU STEGER, DISBURSING OFFICER
was
paymaster on the Tidewater from December, 1955 until October
of 1956 when I went on Christmas leave and was transferred
to Navy Ship Stores School, Brooklyn, N.Y. for 2 months.
I finished my 3-year tour of active duty as the Navy Exchange
Officer at the Naval Air Station, Glenview, Illinois.
I was an Ensign
aboard the Tidewater and made Jg at NAS, Glenview. After
I retired from active duty my temporary appointment to Lieutenant
came through.
Our Captain,
when I came aboard, was Captain B.S. Hanson. Captain Hanson
was relieved shortly after we returned from the Med in 1956
by Captain A.E. Parker.
