all about our first Tidewater reunion. But it was hard to decide
which one it should be among the many great pictures that were taken
at the AD31 Association Reunion in Charleston. So we're showing

is a shot sent in to us by Life Member James Dewasme who was aboard
the Tidewater in the early Fifties. This photo was taken as AD31
passed under the Cooper River Bridge in Charleston, SC after her
shakedown cruise prior to being returned to service in 1952.

in 1960 when the Tidewater met up with the USS Des Moines and the
USS Roberts. A great liberty port - Villafranche.

Greece. Bill is 2nd from the right and is flanked by three Tidewater
sailors helping him to keep the bottles empty.

document was sent in to us by former Ltjg Lou Steger who was aboard
for the 1955-56 Med Cruise. This particular copy of the Plan of
the Day tells a little bit about that cruise and the assignments
prior to departure from C & E Piers in Norfolk.

a memory for you. Everything is lashed down including some vintage
autos (at least they are called that now). Remember tripping over
the lash downs on your way forward at night? This photo was sent
in to us by Walt Moran who was the ship's photographer from1959

Downtown Norfolk
his
photo was sent to us by Life Member, Bill Gruss, who was aboard the
Tidewater during the late Fifties and early Sixties. The section of
Norfolk in this photo was a hangout for sailors on liberty. East Main
Street's locker clubs and nightspots - oh, the memories!

Up On The Bridge
his
picture has generated interest from some of our Association members
as to who it is in the photo. Taken from the 1954 Cruise Book & published in a recent issue of the Association Newsletter, High
Tide, this picture is gives some excellent detail of the ship's
