Screw
Change In Naples

ll
the Repair Divisions of the USS Tidewater performed major work on
destroyers. This is just one example where, in 1962, the USS Stickle
underwent a screw change while in our Med home port of Naples, Italy.
This photo was sent to us by AD31 Association Life Member Terry
Braga, who was on the diving team that removed the old screw and
put on the new one. The replacement screw weighed over 4 tons. Wait
until you see the wrench they used to remove the old one from the
shaft. It's definitely longer than your arm.

Remember
the USS Cole
he
Cole was attacked on October 12, 2000 in Aden, Yemen. Less than
one year later, the World Trade Center was attacked and obliterated.
Americans will never forget how these two deeds were so closely
linked to the Al Qaeda terrorist network and the important lessons
we learned and that future generations will learn about protecting
our freedoms.
The
Cole is now back and better than ever - you can read about more
about the Yemen incident and subsequent investigations by clicking
