REFUELING
AT SEA
ET2 USS Tidewater 1962-1965
ere
is another view of the Tidewater refueling on its way
back from the Med in 1965. The ship at the left is a supply/fuel
ship. There is danger in this photo as a hose is hanging
suspended from a guy wire strung between the Tidewater
and the supply ship. The helmsmen of both ships had to
steer a true course so that the hose would remain suspended
above the water and not snap or get deep-sixed. The ship
in the center is a destroyer, one of several in our flotilla
headed for Norfolk.
Just another event-filled day at sea in the life of sailor
in the Atlantic fleet.
