ere is a rare view of the Tidewater at sea.
Most of the time she sat in one of two places - the Norfolk
Destroyer Sub Piers or in Naples Harbor. So many months
were spent in port that sailors liked to say that the Tidewater
couldn't get off the pile of coffee grounds underneath.
This picture was taken prior to 1962 before she was refitted
for a DASH hanger on the fantail.
