The Barracks - Outside
remembered mostly as a fire trap

ere is a series of photos sent in to us by Association Life Member, Ron Wyatt, which show what the training facilities at Great Lakes Naval Station looked like back in the early Sixties. The photo above is of Wyatt (right) and an unidentified classmate standing in front of their barracks at ET "A" School. The school was about 40 weeks long in those days - lots of technical stuff with lots of algebra and pencil pushing and head scratching - a really good education. Ron graduated and then reported for duty aboard the Tidewater in September 1962. He worked in the ET Shop and Toulon, France was his favorite liberty port.
